Employment Related Services (ERS) is committed to helping people with disabilities expand their independence by obtaining and maintaining employment. Copa Health achieves this through a variety of training models including career planning, pre-employment training, computer training, document imaging training, center and community-based “real” work training, job development and placement. Competitive & supported employment, with Employment Specialist co-located in six valley clinics.

Copa Health assists individuals in finding work by utilizing supported employment principles. Supported Employment helps people find and keep meaningful jobs in the community. It is an evidence-based practice that increases competitive employment amongst our members while also increasing income and job satisfaction. We also note improvement in self-esteem, mental illness self-management, and autonomy. It helps to reduce public assistance dependence as well as stigma within the community.

Copa Health’s Employment Related Services (ERS) offers members a wide array of job training and employment opportunities serving both individuals and the businesses Copa Health supports. The primary goal is to provide needed supports that enable members to gain meaningful employment within the community.

In the last year three ERS Navigators have engaged with 1,831 people at Paz De Cristo, 95% have all been entered into Soxbox for tracking specific to Paz De Cristo. Approximately 35% have been entered in the system and are being referred back for employment services and/or outpatient services. Many need mental health services but are unwilling to enroll. We added a Behavioral Health professional to be on site for assessments this should move the dial on the 35% with an increase in eligibility and enrollment in our services. Our Navigators have attended court over 250 times working closely with Judge Tatz, Judge Lafoya and Judge Hinske.
We have an exceptional peer support program with eleven graduating classes a year. Average class is 15 –20 members pre-covid Classes are limited to 10 during the COVID pandemic . Our two class instructors were recently certified in ASIST Training (Suicide Intervention Training) and will be offering ASIST Training to our staff and to graduates of Peer Support.
