COPA HEALTH 31 DAYS OF HEALING: Veterans Find Help in Volunteering

May 29, 2022, Mesa, AZ: Veterans Find Help in Volunteering.

Travis Manion Foundation believes that the veteran community continues to be a civic asset serving the needs of the community which positively contributes to mental health needs and connectedness. Research shows that volunteering has positive benefits (both physical and mental) and improves mental health factors such as depression, purpose in life, and feelings of optimism. According to a 2021 study by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University Report on TMF programming, TMF members felt more connected to one another and their community, leading to improvements in their mental and physical health, and ultimately greater well-being and thriving.

For additional mental health and well-being resources, veterans can visit TMF partners: The Veteran Wellness Alliance Check In Program, Headstrong Connect to Care, and Veterans Crisis Line.
