COPA HEALTH 31 DAYS OF HEALING: Anxiety and Acceptance

May 12, 2022, Mesa, AZ: Anxiety and Acceptance.

As a child, I was told my angst and fears were unfounded, so I learned to smile my way through the day and be unsettled on the inside. Through the years, therapists have supported me in dealing with anxiety and unhealthy people-pleasing behaviors. I now know that I can have good moments and challenging ones and still make it through the day! I am a huge advocate for journaling as there is nothing more powerful than reading your thoughts, in your handwriting. I no longer feel like my world revolves around what other people think of me and while I still smile my way through my ups and downs, I know that I can give myself a break and accept my anxiety as part of my personality. During Mental Health Awareness Month and throughout the year, I am committed to helping others find healthy coping mechanisms. My favorites include getting outside and walking, taking pictures of unique sites, listening to music, and journaling. Back to Basics, the theme for 2022 Mental Health Awareness Month, for me includes embracing myself for who I am, including my anxiety.
