COPA HEALTH 31 DAYS OF HEALING: WISE WORDS FROM COPA HEALTH CEO, DR. SHAR NAJAFI-PIPER
May 19, 2021, Mesa, AZ: Copa Health CEO, Dr. Shar Najafi-Piper is not just a psychologist and a CEO. She is also a mom. Today she shares that the mental health of our children is just as important as their physical health.
Today, we are joined by Copa Health CEO, Dr. Shar Najafi-Piper who reminds us of the importance of being mindful of the mental health as well as the physical health of our children.
I’m not just the CEO of Copa Health. I’m also the mother of two small boys. I am not alone in being just as mindful of the happiness and mental health of my family as I am of their physical health. According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, 20 percent of children ages 13-18 live with a mental health condition and 50 percent of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14. There are four things families can do if they suspect their children need mental health resources:
- Talk with the child’s doctor
- Get a referral to a mental health specialist
- Work with the child’s school
- Connect with other families
Families are not alone in the recovery goals of their children. There are many resources and supports available to them.
